The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a part of the R&D team focused on the next generation robotically assisted surgical devices for Imperative Care changing the future of healthcareThe ideal candidate shall have demonstrated experience in developing a hardware, including mechatronics, FEA simulation, machine design, component selection, electromechanical integration, and hardware architectureThe candidate shall also have demonstrated experience in leading teams while successfully working with cross-functional R&D stakeholders, project management, product management and clinicians.Define requirements for the hardware platform, identify problem statements and brainstorm creative solutions, prototype machine & system design solutions, and iterate on design for a production ready solutionResponsible for system and sub system design, component selection, vendor management, testing, troubleshooting and root cause analysisAct as a technical lead for large parts of the systemParticipate in and lead risk analysis and DFMEA activitiesDevelop system specifications, protocols, and reportsWork within design controls, compliance testing, FMEA, CE, ISO, FDA and other regulatory requirementsWork within a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team to solve complex, system and sub-system level design challengesWhat You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in developing system or sub-system hardware is requiredExperience in structural designs, complex mechanisms and mechatronic applications is requiredExperience with precision linear and rotary motion components (gears, lead screws, rotary and linear bearings) , encoders and servo-motor selection is requiredExperience creating 3D models and drawings in CAD is required, SolidWorks (preferred)Strong knowledge and understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5Strong understanding of fabrication methods including machining, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, and injection molding.Hands-on engineering with the proven ability to work well in a team environmentAnalysis skills, including statics, dynamics, strength of materials and stress analysisMust be capable of working independently and in a team, while being flexible and self-motivatedPrevious experience in developing Medical Devices in an FDA regulated environment is preferredExperience with DFx and designing hardware that is built and shipped at scale is preferredExperience with designing to IEC60601-X is preferredFamiliar with med device design controls and procedures is preferredEmployee Benefits include a stake in our collective success with stock options, competitive salaries, a 401k plan, health benefits, generous PTO, and a parental leave program.Join Us!Salary Range:
